I had the perfect life.

Beautiful and loving husband.Three gorgeous little girls.
Successful career.

The only thing missing was the white picket fence. I really wanted that fence.

Three years ago, I lost that life. I lost my husband. And I lost myself. But, eventually, I found my way through the darkness. I’ve made peace with my new life. I have my girls, and that’s all that matters. They are my world. I have no illusions of ever falling in love again or getting whisked away on a white horse.

But then he came back into my life. On a freakin’ motorcycle.

There’s no way I’ll let him turn my life completely upside down. Absolutely no way.

The question is…

How long can I keep pretending that I’m happy with my life being right-side up?

This book is about love, family, and second chances!

Alex, our single mother for 3 years due to the death of her husband in a car accident, have been hiding from the world through the daily monotonous motions of everyday life. She wakes up, wakes up her 3 wonderful daughters, eat breakfast, send her children to school, go to the office, comes back from work, eat dinner, goes back to sleep... then the whole ordeal starts again the next day ... and the day after that ... and the days to come. It seemed her life is really just running on empty ... barely making it through the next day. Although, I have to stress, she does enjoy her 3 daughters ... loves them so much and makes them their priority ... to the point of forgetting that she too has a life. Then comes a great person from her past .... her best friend, Blake, who had been her loyal friend since they fell apart sometime in high school for reasons Alex couldn't figure out.

Blake comes to the rescue when Alex's life starts to fall apart in shambles. And the past comes crashing back. Alex gets to know Blake all over again and is reminded of the reasons why he was her best friend in the first place. He was just a totally awesome guy. And along the story she starts to realize how she had wronged Blake in the past without even being aware of it. Truly, I cannot stop falling in love with Blake ... so we cannot blame Alex for feeling the same way! Anyway, what really strikes me the most is Alex's loyalty and love to the people she cares/cared about the most.Somehow, the reality that her husband has been dead for 3 years is not enough reason to move on to a relationship with Blake. She finds such act a betrayal to the memories of her late husband. Trust me, I do understand her sentiment ... I get where she's coming from ... but come on ... how can you deny true love when it comes knocking on your door ... for the second time around?

All in all, I really enjoyed the book and at times I find Alex hilarious!

Review: Accidentally Married to...A Vampire?

“If you love her, set her free. If she comes back, she’s yours. If she doesn’t…Christ! Stubborn woman! Hunt her down, and bring her the hell back; she’s still yours according to vampire law.” - Niccolo DiConti, General of the Vampire Queen’s Army.

THE DETERMINED VAMPIRE: Niccolo DiConti has faithfully served as leader of Her Majesty’s army for over a millennium, but he’d rather sunbathe in the Sahara than spend another grueling day under his demented queen’s command. However, no one has ever left her side and lived to tell. So when a powerful goddess prophesies he will meet his salvation—a human woman he must turn into a vampire with her consent—he eagerly rises to the challenge. After all, how hard could it be to seduce a human female into taking the immortal plunge? Harder than he thinks. Because his mate won’t be born for another three centuries, and when he wakes up in the goddess’ tomb, not only is his life a mess, but his destined female isn’t about to settle for a coldhearted vampire. Can he win her over before it’s too late? Not if his enemies have anything to do with it.

AN UNWILLING BRIDE: On the night Helena Strauss meets the fierce, devastatingly handsome vampire who saves her life in the jungles of Mexico, she knows her world will be forever changed. Because an attraction this mind blowing only comes along once in a lifetime—or existence. And when he claims she is his one true mate, destined to be his for all eternity, it’s a fairytale come true. So what if her knight in shining armor is a vampire? Nobody’s perfect. But discovering the powerful, overbearing immortal doesn’t “do love”? Deal breaker. Helena will flee and set out to accomplish the impossible…sever the otherworldly bond between them. And it turns out, Helena is just the leverage Niccolo’s enemies need to break the mighty warrior and wipe out his people.

This was a hilarious read! A very interesting premise. Who knew gods can screw vampires' lives and have a kick doing it?

Poor Niccolo, there are so many restrictions and pact rules to consider before he can be truly honest and open with Helena about his vampire life. This was probably the root cause of their relationship's demise even before it had to grow to so much more. Then enter Andrus, the demilord. Oh, I was so rooting for Andrus to end up with Helena ... they have more in common ... they both lost their freedom to a vampire!

The plot was very interesting. There were so many detours. Each detour served to strengthen the characters and to influence their decisions. All things seem to be complicated ... one cannot simply exact revenge directly, one has to plan and there were so many rules to consider ... talk about politics. Even the gods are forbidden to take down certain lower ranking entities, i.e. the vampire queen, Reyna, a ruthless leader.
