Alexandria isn't sure she's going to make it to her eighteenth birthday--to her Awakening. A long-forgotten, fanatical order is out to kill her, and if the Council ever discovers what she did in the Catskills, she's a goner... and so is Aiden.
If that's not freaky enough, whenever Alex and Seth spend time "training"--which really is just Seth's code word for some up-close and personal one-on-one time--she ends up with another mark of the Apollyon, which brings her one step closer to Awakening ahead of schedule. Awesome.
But as her birthday draws near, her entire world shatters with a startling revelation and she's caught between love and Fate. One will do anything to protect her. One has been lying to her since the beginning. Once the gods have revealed themselves, unleashing their wrath, lives will be irrevocably changed... and destroyed.
Those left standing will discover if love is truly greater than Fate...
I missed Alex, Aiden and Seth so much that the minute I had a copy of the book I just had to drop everything and read it. It's a mind-blowing full of actions, emotions and climactic events, piece!
In this book we question where Seth's loyalty lies. Does he really care for Alex? Did he really protect Alex because he felt something deeper than the fate's connection of an Apollyon? Or, did he protect her merely to use her and to tap into her energy to gain power and destroy the gods? And what's up with Lucian? Is he really controlling Seth?
What about Aiden? Will he finally give in with his feelings --- rules be damned?!!!
After reading the book, I think I need to rethink which team I would join now. Aiden or Seth? I have always been a fan of Seth and somehow I'm hopeful that he really does care. Unfortunately, I'm so disappointed with him (I will not elaborate on that matter).
The first half of the book was not as eventful as the second half, however, once you get to the second half everything begins to move! There are so much revelations and just when you thought you knew what would happen next it is not what you expect.
The ending is expectedly a cliff hanger. It's good to have a copy of Elixir in hand. Which I'm fortunate of having! =)
